Pure magic… with a Polish twist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted to create a magical world \u2013 but one with a distinctly Polish character. We love the universe of spells and fantasy, but most popular stories revolve around British folklore. And yet, Poland has incredible storytelling potential \u2013 from Slavic mythology to rich local legends just waiting to be explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We wanted our school of magic to have its own language, humor, and identity. That\u2019s how characters like the know-it-all mycology gnome came to life, whose witty remarks guide players through the game, along with our original house mascots \u2013 \u017bb\u00f3br, Soworze\u0142, and Wa\u017ctraszka. Sounds quirky? That\u2019s exactly what we aimed for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our goal was to keep the room accessible and engaging \u2013 without going overboard with \u201cPolishness for the sake of it.\u201d So, no pierogi, Easter baskets, or alcohol jokes here. Instead, you’ll find the kind of magic we imagined as kids \u2013 spells, potions, spellbooks, and alchemy elements you can truly feel as you play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not Parry Hotter \u2013 but something truly our own<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
When creating a magic-themed escape room, it\u2019s easy to fall into the trap of imitating what\u2019s already familiar. But from the start, we made a clear decision: no copying Hogwarts. Not its name, not its style. No \u201cParry Hotter,\u201d no \u201cSchool of Witchcraft and Wizarddry,\u201d and no clever knockoffs trying to pass as original. We\u2019ve seen too many of those in the industry \u2013 and that\u2019s not the path we wanted to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, we joked about it during brainstorming sessions \u2013 who wouldn\u2019t chuckle at \u201cParry Hotter and the Basement of Secrets\u201d<\/em>? But the jokes quickly gave way to serious concept work, which led us to create a completely different world \u2013 one filled with original ideas, where every name, character, and puzzle has meaning and fits the overall story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s why the Polish School of Magic isn\u2019t a \u201cvariation on a theme,\u201d but a fully unique experience. And players feel it \u2013 many tell us that this sense of originality is the room\u2019s greatest strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Creating an escape room is always a wild ride \u2013 part excitement, part constant doubt about whether what seems brilliant to us will actually work for players. Designing the puzzles is just the beginning. The real challenge starts when it\u2019s time for the first playtests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We always invite family, friends, and trusted escape room enthusiasts to help us test \u2013 and we know they won\u2019t sugarcoat anything. That\u2019s exactly what we want. Their brutally honest feedback can sting, but it\u2019s what saves us from mistakes that could break the whole experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first versions of the Polish School of Magic puzzles went through a lot \u2013 from complete rewrites to simplifications and even reinforcements \u201cjust in case of forceful players\u201d (yes, we mean those who try to solve puzzles by elbowing open cabinets). Every comment from our testers was a clue: this needs tweaking, that needs streamlining, and this… should just go in the bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And sure, sometimes you wish you could throw on an invisibility cloak and disappear out of embarrassment \u2013 but it\u2019s those exact moments that help us build truly great rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fortunately, we weren\u2019t alone in this \u2013 the room was built in collaboration with the professional, experienced team at Escape Room Supplier. Thanks to their expertise and technical support, we were able to turn our concept into a fully functional, cohesive, and finely crafted game space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During testing, we never give hints \u2013 we let players follow their own instincts, even when it leads them down some truly unexpected paths. But one moment from testing the Polish School of Magic has become legendary in our team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One group, upon spotting a life-sized suit of armor in the room, immediately linked it to the iconic chess battle scene from The Philosopher\u2019s Stone<\/em>. It started with: \u201cThis has to be a chess puzzle! Quick, Maciek \u2013 get dressed!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before the armor was fully dismantled in three places, we had to step in \u2013 for the sake of the game, the players\u2019 safety, and… the armor itself. That was the one time we broke our \u201cno intervention\u201d rule, because we simply couldn\u2019t pretend anymore that \u201cthis is all part of the plan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the one hand, it\u2019s a hilarious story. On the other \u2013 it shows just how deeply players can immerse themselves in the world we create, and how essential it is to design the experience in a way that intuitively guides them\u2026 without tempting them into full-on medieval reenactments.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n We can have the most polished puzzles, the most beautiful set design, and a seamless storyline \u2014 but if the room doesn\u2019t work for kids, something went wrong. That\u2019s why playtesting with the youngest players is always the most valuable\u2026 and the most unforgiving. Kids don\u2019t pretend to enjoy something. If they\u2019re bored \u2014 you see it instantly. If they\u2019re excited \u2014 they throw themselves into the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While developing the Polish School of Magic, we invited groups of 9- and 10-year-olds to test the room. That age is the sweet spot: they\u2019re independent enough to solve puzzles but still spontaneous enough to fully immerse themselves in a magical world \u2014 as long as that world truly works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Watching their reactions gave us more insight than any survey ever could. If they were captivated from the moment they stepped in, if they had fun even without knowing all the answers \u2014 we knew we were on the right track. And if something didn\u2019t work, we didn\u2019t have to guess \u2014 they told us directly. And for that, we\u2019re incredibly grateful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n No one else could have tested certain mechanics and decorative elements as thoroughly. Kids are observant, creative, unpredictable \u2014 and that\u2019s exactly why, in the end, they helped turn this room into a real adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Magiczny: Polish School of Magic<\/strong> is a room that holds a special place in our hearts \u2013 born from a passion for world-building and a deep desire to tell a story that\u2019s truly our own.
