Are escape rooms safe?
Repetitive entertainment options are starting to bore you. You want to spend quality time with family or friends, but you’re tired of going to the movies or sitting around in crowded restaurants. You’re craving something different – a challenge, perhaps? Maybe an escape room?
If you’re dreaming of a visit to an escape room with friends who are mainly after fun, you’ll probably look for one full of puzzles and thrills. But if you’re planning to bring your children, your perspective changes – from an adventurous companion to a caring parent whose main concern is safety.
Before booking your session, a few questions naturally come to mind: Are escape rooms safe? and Is it safe for children to play in an escape room?
If you’re reading this, it means you’re looking for answers to those very questions.
A Creative Space at 2 Bacha Street
Welcome to Kreatywny Świat Escape Room – a one-of-a-kind space for creative experiences in Warsaw, located at 2 J.S. Bacha Street. Established in 2025, it quickly became part of the city’s vibrant educational and cultural hub.
If you live in Warsaw or nearby, there’s a good chance you’ve already visited this area. It’s not just home to our escape rooms, but also to several schools and cultural institutions. Perhaps your child attends (or once attended) the local primary or secondary school here? Or maybe they develop their musical talent at the neighboring music school?
You might have even taken part in summer open-air film screenings or creative workshops organized by the nearby documentary and feature film studio behind the same building.
Yes – that’s exactly the place! And now, this lively educational center for children and teenagers has a new addition: Kreatywny Świat Escape Room – where imagination, challenge, and fun meet in perfect harmony.
You can read more about our offer – designed for both adults and young participants – in other articles on this website. Here, however, I’ll focus on answering one key question: can you feel safe in an escape room?
I won’t repeat what you can already find on countless websites: yes, escape rooms are currently among the safest forms of entertainment. A simple proof? The city of Warsaw runs the municipal program “Klasa w Warszawie. Warszawa z klasą”, which subsidizes school trips – including visits to escape rooms. Do you think that would be possible if escape rooms weren’t safe?
Kreatywny Świat Escape Room has already hosted many school groups from Warsaw and beyond. And since most of those students later return with their parents and friends, I can confidently say we’ve met – and often exceeded – their expectations.
Leave whenever you want
Let’s get straight to the point. There’s a reason why the Polish term for “escape room” is more often translated as pokój zagadek (“puzzle room”) rather than pokój ucieczek (“room of escape”). In our rooms, you don’t have to “escape” because no one is ever locked in. If a participant wants to leave the game before the time is up, they simply press the door handle and… walk out.
The Game Master – the staff member assigned to each group – is always aware of what’s happening, since the game is monitored for both sight and sound. Why? Firstly, to provide hints when needed. Secondly, to ensure everyone’s safety.
An escape room is meant to spark emotions and raise adrenaline levels under the pressure of time – that’s part of the fun. Adrenaline, often called the “hormone of excitement,” can have positive effects, but for some, it might cause reactions like sweating or a rise in blood pressure. Everyone is different, and it’s completely natural to feel unwell or want to leave. If your child wants to exit the room, you can leave together. But if you don’t want to interrupt the game, just tell us – loudly – that your child wishes to leave and needs assistance. The Game Master overseeing your group will immediately send someone to help.
You can trust us – our staff is properly trained and capable of providing first aid if necessary. Kreatywny Świat also has a fully equipped first-aid kit in compliance with safety regulations. However, please remember that if your child takes prescribed medication, only you can administer it – our staff is not authorized to do so.
To create the right atmosphere – whether it’s magical like in The Polish School of Magic, adventurous like in Pirates: The Gold of the Caribbean, or thrilling like in Saw: Bloody Rules – some rooms may be dimly lit. If you wish to leave and can’t find the door handle in the dark, simply press the illuminated emergency button. You can do this at any moment – not only if you want to exit the room, but also if you decide to end the game early.
We guarantee that one of our Game Masters will come to you right away. Our space is also equipped with a designated evacuation route – one we hope we’ll never have to use.
The Human Factor
The rooms may contain mechanisms powered by electricity, used to solve certain puzzles. Don’t worry! We only use low-voltage systems that pose no threat to your health or safety. As long as you follow the rules of the escape room, you have nothing to fear. The Game Master – who introduces each group to the game – will inform you about what should not be touched or done in a particular room.
As a general rule: please do not tear or pull anything off the walls, jump on furniture, or use “superhuman strength” on any of the mechanisms. If a particular task requires such an action, you will be clearly informed beforehand.
As one renowned occupational safety expert used to say: whenever something happens, it’s always due to the human factor. Either something was built incorrectly, installed incorrectly, or used incorrectly. So it’s important to remember that you also play a part in your own safety during your escape room experience.
At Kreatywny Świat, we’ve created a safe entertainment space. We’ve carefully selected every element of our escape rooms to meet safety standards. Any items that could pose even the slightest risk are properly installed and secured. Every day, we inspect all mechanisms and devices in each room to ensure they are safe to use.
There’s only one thing we can’t control – we never know what creative idea might come to a player’s mind! That’s why it’s so important to listen carefully to the Game Master’s instructions and follow the rules for each room.
Our Terms and Conditions
Before starting the game, please familiarize yourself with our Terms and Conditions. It’s not only a formality – signing and accepting them is required either during the online booking process or directly before the game (for example, if you made a reservation by phone). The rules, such as the prohibition of smoking or alcohol consumption, were created with your safety in mind.
The Terms and Conditions also explain that participation in the game is not recommended for pregnant women or for people suffering from certain health conditions (such as claustrophobia, epilepsy, asthma, or those undergoing psychiatric treatment), though the final decision always belongs to the player.
In our escape room, children under the age of 13 may participate only under the supervision of an adult guardian. You may take part in the game yourself, or – upon request – observe the children’s game on the Game Master’s computer monitor.
