Theatre Workshop: Viking Village

The “Viking Village” theatre workshop is an experience that blends imagination, voice work, and movement.

It introduces children to the world of acting and self-awareness through shared play in a creative setting — one we build together during the session.

Acting isn’t only about hard work in theatre or film. It’s also about exercises that prove useful in everyday life — teaching focus, courage, and emotional expression.

  • Group size: 6 to 30 participants
  • Can be divided into duets
  • Duration: approx. 100 minutes
  • Age group: 10+

Workshop Plan: Viking Village

Time to enter — with your imagination and beyond — a world of drums, powerful voices, and epic duels!

It all begins in the mind. As participants enter the room, we start with guided breathing with eyes closed. During this calm intro, the instructor sets the scene and brings everyone into the world of the Vikings.

Next comes murmurando. A true Viking must warm up their vocal cords!
Murmurando is a humming exercise where, with closed lips, we release the sound of “M” continuously, focusing on the vibration in our throat.

Once the voice is warmed up, it’s time to feel the music with your body. Eyes closed again, participants move freely — first their hands, then their head, and finally their whole body.

The harmony of voice and body is key for every true warrior.
The instructor provides cues for each movement phase.

With body and voice awakened, we gather as warriors in the circle of champions! Following the instructor’s rhythm cues, we’ll move together as a united Viking village — to the beat of strong Nordic folk music.

Celebration is great, but every village needs to be built first!
Before we rest, the group will create their own little Viking settlement using available resources — guided by the instructor’s suggestions on what a real village needs.

Then it’s finally time to sit down. But what’s a shared rest without… duels?
In pairs, students will step forward to “battle” each other using only questions! The one who thinks fastest — wins!

This “question for a question” challenge develops quick thinking and reflexes. The rule? Only speak in the form of questions!

After such a full day, every Viking deserves a story.
To end the workshop, each participant adds a sentence, one after another — together creating a shared tale born from imagination.

Throughout the workshop, the instructor closely guides and supports the group.
Thanks to the Viking theme, all props and elements in the room may be freely used and incorporated into the session!
